How heavy is it? Slightly sub-6 second 60mph run seems underwhelming for something with so much power and a “superior” DCT.

I think this is the same 2.5L turbo that will be in the 2021 Sedona refresh . It also has an 8 speed transmission, but I don’t think it will be the DCT, though.

Specs are not out yet and I have a hunch that 0-60 is being underrated. I will wait for the tests from the major publications to confirm

In any case I am more interested in strong midran ge passing power which shouldn’t be a problem with that engine.

It’s possible that it’s being underrated, but it’d bet that it doesn’t have the immediate low end torque or the gearing to get off the line quickly. Or it might be a bit heavier than the average midsized sedan of 10-15 years ago.

Maybe I’m being a bit too nit-picky , but it seems that that a modern 2.5L turbo with a DCT should outrun a 2.5L turbo with a manual from 15 years ago. (An ‘05 Legacy GT has a 0-60 time of 5.3 with only 250hp.)

BTW the Accord 2.0T and Camry were tested in the 5.7/5.8 range for reference. The inevitable comparison tests will confirm the performance and also the difference between this and the Sonata N-Line

Perhaps, it also probably doesn’t have a launch control feature which really helps AWD DCT cars off the line. My old S3 had 292hp and would clock 60 in about 4.5s.

That ’s the maximum torque output at that range, it doesn’t really describe how the engine reacts to the input of accelerating, or how much torque is actually delivered when you mash the throttle.

I’d bet that most sedans (especially not the top tier performance trim) are tuned to react a bit “softer” than sports cars, and considering the additional weight and often shared transmissions, they’re not usually built to handle the forces involved in hard launch.

Overall, I’m just expecting a softer vehicle than the 292hp and 311 ft-lb figures could suggest.

Based on presentation and spec sheet, best-in-class IMHO. Even VW’s Arteon falls before this.
